New Homes

We have possibly found a new home for Hunter! Kathy lives in Indianapolis with no other dogs and no kids. She is interested in meeting him next Wednesday and we're really hoping this one works out. Rebel has also sparked a lot of interest. I got a call from someone in northern Illinois today who really wants him for her husband. I hate to part with such a sweet dog but with summer coming quick, we need to go into herd reduction mode.

Potty Training

As much as I miss my dogs being puppies, I don't miss the potty training. Little miss Dixie is a pretty quick learner thankfully. She's learning the outdoor routine pretty well...when's she's not sleeping or eat her training pads. Gotta love puppies though, right? I'll see if I can get some embarrassing shots of her passed out later.

The gang

I felt like I needed to post some photos of the dogs so everyone knows what we're working with here...

Our newest addition, Dixie. She is the beagle mix pup we picked up from an auction.

Hunter is a Lab Golden mix and the grumpiest boy you'll ever meet. He doesn't like sharing and he's not too crazy about the other boys (or kids) either. We're hoping to find him a good adult home with no other dogs and or children.

Buckshot is our LabX. He was 2 days from being put to sleep at the pound. He tested heartworm positive but responded well to treatment and is the most affectionate dog you'll ever meet.

Oakley. He was sentenced to death by his previous owner as a pup because he is deaf and blind in one eye. He's growing up to be a big boy and we adore him. He also knows a little bit of sign language.

Rebel, or the Rebbie-Monster as we call him around here. This is his pound puppy photo. He is from St. Louis. A long drive but well worth such a good dog.

Cowboy, the infamous Yorkie. He was my first rescue pup.

This is Miss Daisy Duke, our 2 year old Great Dane from St. Louis. She's #6 in our family.

So that's the gang

Miss Dixie

We picked up two abandoned puppies yesterday at an auction house. We found the little boy a home, but can't seem to part with the little girl. After you see her photo, can you blame us? So we've got 7 dogs now, at least for the time being. This is the second litter of pups i've picked up from the auction house. What can I say, i'm a sucker.

The beginning - Cowboy

About a year and 3 months ago, I got my very first dog. A tiny Yorkie puppy starving and infested after his owner careless locked him in her bathroom. He ended up with the name Cowboy because of his spunky attitude. He has been a constant in our home and we love him dearly. Somehow, once we bought a house and got settled in, we began to stumble across more dogs that needs our help. So, at the moment, we have seven dogs. From the 3.5 lb Yorkie to our beloved 116 lb. Great Dane, Daisy Duke. This is the story of our struggles and triumphs of living with so many animal companions.
